The Mazzarello Campus is structured around supporting the transition from childhood to adulthood. The campus curriculum is delivered by a core group of teachers, with an emphasis on connectedness between ideas and concepts across disciplines.
Deep engagement with opportunities for higher order and critical thinking are encouraged and learning is integrated as much as possible. Project Based Learning is used to design authentic, rich assessment tasks to deliver an engaging, collaborative and flexible learning experience. A comprehensive elective program provides for student voice and choice, driving a passion for learning.
A key focus of the Mazzarello Campus is to guide students in developing a better awareness of themselves and their community and to provide opportunities to develop tolerance, empathy and an appreciation of others.
A distinctive feature of the Mazzarello Campus is our Year 9 Retreat Program. Over the course of an intensive, nine-week program, students are removed from the traditional classroom and curriculum setting. This enables them to explore issues of personal identity, healthy relationships and their place in the adult world.
Hallmarks of the program include community service, mental health and wellbeing awareness, global citizenship and environmental stewardship. Students are also challenged to push beyond their limits through extended physical activities, culminating in a five-day camping expedition.
In the spirit of Don Bosco, our dedicated Retreat staff and low
teacher-student ratios provide students with an opportunity to flourish
in a safe and supporting environment.
