Salesian College Sunbury’s Agriculture program continues to cultivate excellence — earning recognition at state and national levels, and demonstrating the strength of our students’ skills, passion, and professionalism.
In recent weeks, the College was proud to welcome Mr James Merlino (Chair) and Professor Elizabeth Labone (CEO) from the Victorian Catholic Education Authority (VCEA) to our campus. Their visit provided an opportunity to explore our state-of-the-art Agricultural Learning Area and hear about our Senior Campus development plans, recognising the College’s growth and innovation in a thriving educational and industry sector.
That same spirit of innovation and achievement was on full display at the Royal Melbourne Show, where our Cattle and Sheep Teams achieved remarkable results, including Grand Champion Carcase, Champion Heavy Domestic Carcase, and the Marcus Oldham College Trophy for the highest-scoring school entry. Our students also claimed top honours in multiple sheep-handling and parading divisions, earning Salesian College the title of Most Awarded School in the competition and over $3,000 in prize winnings. Featured on Channel 7 News, the team’s success showcased the depth of our program and the quality of our hands-on learning approach.
Adding to the excitement, Year 12 student Teisha Menezes was recently featured in Stock & Land, sharing how a Year 7 elective sparked her ongoing passion for agriculture, a testament to the opportunities and mentorship available through our programs.
Our Engage Agriculture students also shone at the AWI Merino Wether Challenge, proudly taking home Best Presented Sheep, while our annual Agriculture Showcase 2025 brought together more than 200 students, families, donors, and industry professionals for an evening celebrating achievement, connection, and the bright future of agriculture at Salesian.
From classroom learning to the show ring, Salesian College Sunbury continues to build a reputation as a leader in agricultural education, where tradition meets innovation, and every student is given the opportunity to grow.
