Curriculum

Years 7-10
The Key Learning Areas for Years 7 to 10 include: Religious Education,
English, Mathematics, Science, Studies of Society & Environment (SOSE),
Health & Physical Education, Languages Other Than English (LOTE),
Technology and the Arts.
The curriculum at Years 7 to 9 has been developed to improve the degree
of interlinking between the Key Learning Areas and to allow a greater
sense of teamwork. The curriculum programs of Religious Education, English
and Studies of Society and Environment have been developed around common
themes to improve the degree of integrated learning experiences. Similarly,
Science and Health & Physical Education programs have adopted a more
co-ordinated approach to facilitate connections across the curriculum.
Technology and the Arts programs have been developed around common projects
which will allow students a greater sense of achievement and teamwork.
In addition to the core Key Learning Areas, the Year 10 curriculum has
a broad number of Vocational Education & Training (VET) options for
students, allowing them to focus on preparation for post-secondary study
in these areas. All Key Learning Areas at Year 10 have an emphasis on
preparation for VCE studies and pathways from school to post-secondary
education. Although there is increased emphasis on vocational opportunities
at Year 10, the broad curriculum is designed to ensure that students retain
sufficient diversity in their studies, and a range of choices for continuing
their education at the VCE level.
